92toy question

I have a 92 toy 2.4l and lately when im driving with the gas down it seems to sputter a bit it did it about 6 months ago and stopped and it doesnt do it everytime but mostly in 3rd and 4th sometimes all gears but it sputters then will stop out i thought it might be the fuel filter but my friend said if it stopped and just came back then its not that. does anyone have any ideas of what else it could be?

Do you mean "gas down" like low fuel in the tank or the accelerator pushed down. We need some more info. Does it do it when its cold and stop or just randomly do it and stop? Does it happen at a certain rpm?

it doesnt die out it just keeps sputtering like the gas cuts off for a split second and then comes back on. and the fuel in the tank is full. and its cali so its pretty much 80-90 right now. and yes it will randomly do it and stop. yesterday it didnt do it at all today it only did it in around 2400-2800 rpm in 3rd and around 2100 rpm in 4th today. but in 4th it didnt wanna do it unless the gas pedal was to the floor as long as it wasent pressed much it didnt do it.

since we're talkin about 92 yotas, mine dosent go into overdrive until it warmes up, is that normal? its the only auto ive ever owned. its the 22re, if that matters

try some fuel injection cleaner, your injectors might be a little dirty.

is that just the stp shit u put in with your gas?

Don't use stp, get some berryman B-12 Chemtool. The have special feul injector cleaner or there old formula that you have to measure out excatly. Personally I think the old stuff is stronger, it comes in a metal can, they have spray and pour, you need the one with the lid. Try that and see if it works.

my truck did the same exact thing that your talkin about i was going along fine then all of a sudden it started cutting out i started to pull over and it kicked in it did it about 3 times ina row that happen twice ina month now it hasnt happen agin in about 2 or 3 months. 22r 5 speed.

thats weird my 92 toy does the same thing. sometimes in all gears but mostly in the am when i first leave for work.it feels like it sputters or the clutch or tranny jerkin, but it only does it during acceleration
