carb help

hey i think my truck is idleing really high i dont know how high because i dont have a tach but i know if i put my truck 1st it goes 10mph is that normal or is that too high my truck used to idle really low almost to the point that it would stall and also my exhaust smells really wierd now and you can smell it in the truck i think my carb might be stuck open its the 2.3l i neede help quick cuz its my daily driver

theres an idling screw on youre carb wher your throttle cable hooks on ajust it back . but your problem is the throttle shaft is worn out and its sucking air around it. you will need a new carb p.s. good luck finding one

If you need a new carb, I suggest getting a Weber topdraft. They are excellent and you can do away with almost ALL of the vacuum lines under the hood!
