Here is my delimmma... I have a 93 toyota w/ a 22re the truck doesn't seem to want to run or idle at all. It seems to be fouling the plugs out from apperently to much fuel. I would think that the truck would at least start up and try and run for a second, but it wont even fire. I have changed the plugs, wires etc... Anyone ever have a problems along these lines or not? Any help would be great.

Thanks

HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR TIMING? THAT WOULD CAUSE THE TRUCK TO FOUL PLUGS AND NOT START. ALSO, CHECK YOUR FUEL FILTER.

Yeah I did the timing. Pulled the #1 piston to top dead center and stabbed the dist. in eveything should be good and the fuel filter is good as well I'm pretty sure.

HMM....HOW MANY MILES ARE ON THE MOTOR? YOUR VALVE GUIDES COULD BE LEAKING OIL INTO THE CYLINDERS. MINE LEAKED A LITTLE BIT AND WOULD PUFF SMOKE WHEN I STARTED IT BUT IF YOU GET ENOUGH IN THERE THE OIL WHEN TRYING TO START COULD FOUL YOUR PLUGS AS WELL. IF YOU PUT NEW PLUG IN, IT WILL RUN? BUT THEN IT DOESNT AFTER A WHILE? ALSO, WHAT ABOUT COMPRESSION? DID YOU TEST IT AS WELL?

What is happening> Is it loading up on fuek when you are at idle or trying to run? Could be the Coolant temp sensore, When they go bad it will read cold all the time and load the truck up and foul it out, I dont know for sure if the later model truck have a cold start injector but check that(I dont think they do) Or it could be a fuel dampner ity is on the end of the rail

So I think that I have maybe narrowed it down to the igniter or the sensor that looks like it bolts to the top of the valve cover and runs into the dist. and connects in there. Does anyone know if the igniter or this so called sensor or what are known for going out?? I have 2 trucks of the same year so I was able to take parts from the one that runs to try on the other to trouble shoot. It seems like the coils wasn’t bad as well as the wire connecting the igniter to the sensor that runs from the valve cover to the dist. I took the good working stuff off of the one truck and tried it on the other and it seemed to get fire then, but still wont start. However everything will still work on my other truck that currently runs... Any clues?? Sorry about the long post.

The thermostat went bad on mine & caused it to stay in cold start mode. Sounds like the same condition.
