gaskets

when reassembling a motor, which gaskets and where on them needs some silicone sealant? Also what is the best sealant to use.

Get a complete gasket set, & use high tem stuff where called for!

Just get a tube of FIPG from Toyota about 12 a tube

ok, i have the gasket set, but which gaskets need sealant on them and where on them?

On the timing cover gaskets and the oil pan gaskets just put a thin layer to help seal it also on the water pump gasket, The oil pump is a rubber o-ring and you dont need it on the head gasket the VC gasket the intake or the exhaust gasket(wouldnt hurt on the intake)

ok, someone told me to do the corners of the head gasket by where it meets the timing chain cover

Get you a haynes or chilton's manual and it will tel you everywhere you need to apply it at and what tourqe specs you should use.
