O.k. here's the deal my 84'gmc s-15 with a 2.8 came with a 4 speed that was toast so I put in a borg-warner 5 speed out of an 86 with a 2.8 put a new clutch on and away I went everything went in smoothly lined up first time(this is where I started to worry) and when I fired it up it screams like hell. know I know that something is rubbing cause when i turn the crank by haand I can feel it but I've checked the starter, so i'm wondering if I need to put fluid in the system for the clutch or maybe I put the bearing in backwards (I didn't think it was possible) sorry for the book but this Is driving me nuts and I needthe truck on the road by friday cause my daily has a new home...And the ring gear doesn't rub

the throw out bearing did it come with the new clutch or are you reusing the other? if so might be to long or too short.or check the clearence on the flywheel they are dir. if put on bachwards like people do sometimes it could be coming into contact with the block?

its possible you could of bent a clutch disc when reinstalling the tranny, its very easy to do.one of the clutch disc may be in backwards to, when you get under it can you tell if any part of the flywheel is contacting the clutch out of gear? does it make the screaching sound when the clutch is engaged, or disengaged or both. will it go into gear at all? im assuming that its outta gear since when you turn it over by hand you can feel something grinding. it could also just be a cracked flywheel.

the only other help i could give you is to go to this site, and post your problem, they usually get back with you really quick and its free, they know allot more than i do. 2carpros.com its a prof. mechanic who answers all the problems, he will probably be able to point you in the right direction.

I had one do the same thing. Does it have a pilot bushing or bearing? If it is the bushing and you didn't grease it that is your problem.
