blue smoke???

k so when i crank the truck up now i get a cloud of blue smoke and when it idels for a long time (like at a red light) it starts dumping out the exuast and when i give it a lot of gas it dumps out. also can i put a 20 r head on my 22r does anything else have to be swapped?

That means you're burning oil.

If you swap the 20R head you need to get the intake and exhaust because nothing from the 22R will fit.

Sounds like stem seals like Seth said you will need the 20r intake and exhaust plus the head has to be machined to match the 22r block

well then i guess ill just get a 22r head and rebuild it cuz i dont have the money to replace everything else.

the head may not be the problem. It could also be bad rings - if the oil blows by the rings it will burn in the cylnder and smoke.

yeah more than likely its because of bad rings...before i put my motor in the shop it would smoke when i started it and if im driving it it would only do it if i floored it. you could get that oil shit from vatozone. its called like stop smoke or something along those lines....it looks like mollases, its super thick...you put it in warm and it will coat the inside of your cylinder walls which will help keep them from smoking and build a little more compression. its not a cure all, the problem is still there but it will help out the smoking.

k ill check that out and if it stops the smoking then itll probably be the rings that need to be replaced huh?

yeah, but if you replace the rings, you'll need to hone the cylinders and what not...but if your going to go through all that i would just rock the motor until it needs to be totally rebuilt.

Throw some Lucas in there or that stop smoke....sounds like the rings to me....also the 20r head swap.....its actually cheaper to buy one from LC unless you know someone at a machine shop that knows how to deck the head to fit the 22r
