Does anyone remember what the looped black wire is on the siren? If I remember correctly if you cut it the alarm will always be silent. Is that right? All I really want is to use the alarm for my doors and eliminate the siren altogether. I never use the alarm anyways. Thanks for the help.

i think the loop is supposed to be grounded isnt it?? if not i think if you cut it, the siren will be continuos rather than different tones

thanks for the help. does anyone know for sure what the black loop does? I really don't even want the siren cluttering up my engine bay.

Then just take the siren out and cap the wire or pull it back through the firewall.

when i eliminated the siren the alarms relay kept clicking repeatedly. do i need to tie the two wires for the siren together?

the black loop makes the arm & disarm chirps louder if you cut it. if you remove the siren DO NOT attach the 2 wire together. on newer DEI alarms there is an additional black loop with a white stripe - if you cut that loop it turns the siren into a single tone instead of 6 tone siren. if you don't want to use the alarm for anything but an entry system then just put it into 'valet' mode and the alarm will be bypassed but the accesory features will still be functional
