I have been thinking of putting in the biggest sliding ragtop I can in the roof of my Caprice wagon. My question is will I have any problems with wind noise, or leaks? I don't drive the car everyday...but I drive it alot. I love how they look but dont want to cut a hole in the roof and then hate it.

you need an experienced installer that's for sure. i try not to even put mine in a situation where it would leak. i don't drive it in the rain. when i wash my truck, i try to not even get it wet unless it's dirty. you don't want to spray a hard stream horizontally right at it. water will get in. YOU WON'T HATE that you got one though. An electric one would be ideal. Mine is a little difficult to slide back and forth. so i would think that a wider and longer one would be even harder. wind noise is minimal in town. not too bad at freeway speeds, but i usually close mine on the freeway to prevent bugs and stuff from getting on the sections sticking up because of the folds. just my $.02. i love mine.

A good job installing it will definetly help keep any problems to a minuimum. Whoever does it needs to know there stuff for the best result. About leaking, they're water resistant, not waterproof. The smaller tops like olskool has are actually a little harder to slide open and closed than the bigger ones just by the nature of their design.

Thanks for the info. We have a shop in town called 'Vinyl Top Specialists" that has installed them before from what I understand. I am looking for one that is the length of the roof... do they make power ragtops that big?

About what size is the roof, I know they make a 35x40 electric rag.

Call streetbeat, they have alot more sizes available than what's on their site. I'm getting a 35x42 elec for the sentra.

the 35x42 electric is prob a inalfa. which is a nice ass roof. i had their manual in my old mazda and loved it.
ive got a streetbeat in my van and love it to. but its 45x90 i got the canvas cause of the colors. it takes 2 people to open and close it but its well worth it. you'll love it. just dont spray water at the side of it when washing cause it will come in.
as far as the noise i think mine is quiter with the roof open than closed kinda wierd.

You say it is quieter with it open? The reason I am asking so many questions is I have a son that is almost a year old and I don't want to make the car to where I can't drive it when my son is with me. I drive my wagon quite a bit. Also on the electric tops are they that much more trouble to install?

i work at a shop here in memphis, tn. and we have installed a bunch of those rag tops. thing is...you are gonna have wind noise with just about anything that your gonna put on top of an automobile especially one like a ragtop that sticks up an inch to inch and a half. hit us up about the ragtop, its Dons Auto Upolstery..901-525-2209. We have a bunch of sized to pick from. And we are among the top ten in the nation of sunroof/ragtop installations. Peace
