On the way to work the other day I hit a dead animal and it broke the connector off of the fill valve for the rear of my truck. I put a new connector on the wire, but still nothing, so I wired it straight to the battery, and then it worked. My question is do I just need to run a new wire to the switchbox, or do y'all think there is something else wrong? I haven't looked at the wires yet, I'm doing that when I get off work today, just trying to be prepared for what all could be wrong.

Thanx in advance,

Rob

Nobody has any ideas if it could be something other than just a loose wire?

if you used one of those plastic coated connectors...make sure that you crimped the wire into the connector and not just into the plastic....done that before and it causes alot of headaches

I had a friend just hold the wire to the positive terminal on the valve while I hit the switch and nothing happened, which is why we ran a hot wire straight to the battery. This is all why I think it's just the wire from the valve to the switchbox needing to be re-ran. I was just wondering if anybody else thought it might be something else though.

just guessing, but a possibility may be the switch itself is burned up, if that wire that broke off went straight to ground and you hit the switch, the current may have fried it....

get a test light ground it, then put that wire on the other end, and hit that switch, if it doesnt light up you have a short between the switch to the valve. i would make sure by opening the switch box also and testing it at the switch if it it doesnt light up diractly after the switch then i would say its a bad switch... also what kind of switch box is it? if ita an avs box that has relays in it, then oe of those couls possible be out too. just check everywhere possible where there is a conection that could go bab... also if the wire at the valve got knocked off after running over a dead animal, you very well could have streached the wire and broke it in side the loom... that also could be a possibility.. hope that helps

The first thing that come to my mind is, a fust or a burnt wire. Either way your test light won't lie once you put it on. It will really narow it down.
