Hey guys, i need a "core" head, a freind of mine is wanting to send his out and get it built, but we need a core head... anyone got one? that aint super pricey?
it can be nasty and such, its gonna get hot-tanked and new valves, guides, port and polished, and a new cam, i just need the head.

Heres the catch.... its for an 84 block, i need the head with the full cup around the valves, not just the lil indentions!!

Lemme know...

A stock head without valves from Toyota is around $500 , I don't know what the work & parts are going to run you. But you should check into a LC head. Over size stainless valves, ported, racing springs rockers & cam!

How about a 20R head? You guys don't have crazy smog regulations like we do. And its still the same height as the 84 head. In 85 they got like 1/4" or 3/8" shorter, can't remember exactly.

20 r head will work... and from LC a "stage 2" head is $1,400.00 !!!!

off the wall ques..since having a 88 block on an 84 20r head would technically be a hybrid, we would use a 20rhead(84 block) timing chain, right?

^84 would be a 22, not 20.

1980 was the last year of the 20R. The 81-84 22R still hade a taller head though, and a different designed then the 85-95 22R.

timing chain depends on the year of the block, not the head. the 84 block is taller than an 85-up....
