I have a 94 ranger with a 2.3L engine and the wiring harness coming out the firewall and going up the driver side of the truck in the engine bay is right above my tire, but there is not enough slack to simply just move it aside.. so I was wondering what everyone with rangers does about this problem? im bodydropping it on 18's too.. dont know whether or not to just cut and extend all these wires so there is clearance.. or if there is any other better idea of relocating this out of the way? any help is appreciated, thanks

you're gonna have to extend them to make it easier..i rubbed thru mine a cpl of times, didnt feel like extending them so i finally got the damn harness moved enuff to clear..that was a pain in the ass..somehow i got the wires to go over the fuse box brackets..i recommend extending them, then running them over the bracket to the fuse box..i also relocted the starter solonoid from the fender to the firewal, again just extend those wires..hope that makes sense b/c i am tired as hell right now..late

if your going to extend the wires...do it the right way and solder them. use only enough wire to get to your new location. because some wires are current sensitive and the longer the wire the more it drops in continuity.

soldered wires can crack tho because of the vibrations while driving. you can get the same connection with insulated male and female slide conections that crimp on.

Hey Hydrosplash,

Talk to the guys on rangerscene.com They should be able to help. In fact there is a post that I started in the engine fourm on there about this same thing. If I remember correctly, somebody on there said that you can put them through the firewall to the underside of the dash, I haven't tried it yet though.

your not going to crack a soldered connection unless you have it bent of something. Not to mention I can't imagine how big of a bundle you would have using solderless terminals.

I did this same thing on my taco. I basically extened the harness (some 35 wires) about 20" and moved it to exite the fire wall under the brake booster where it couldnt be seen. Get electricians tag numbers and label each wire with the number twice and cut between the number tags. then do your SOLDERS!!! and heatshrink all connections and its a done deal.
