on my brothers regal there is cracked filler/lead?? on the roof by the side windows...its a common problem with the g-body cars especialy (sp) when they originally have a top on them.

my question is how do i repair this? should i grind it all out (its deep as shit! thats where they join the roof th=o the quarter) and fill it with dynoglass...lead... or what???

i would grind it all out and make sure you weld the seam fully shut again and then fill back over it with some dynaglass

i shaved the rear side window on another regal in my profile and found that shit is an 1" deep and 2" wide. should i grind it down then weld in 16awg steel in there?

Grind it all out as much as possible, depends on the year of the car, if its newer is probably not lead, its a copper compund. On older classics at our shop sometimes we melt the lead out with a torch, and weld up the seam.

!!!!!!!!!!!This will not guarruntee that it will not crack again, as the seam will usually show again after time from body flex!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^What he said! If there is an interior panel behind that area, I would recommend using a piece of 18 gauge plate to reinforce the backside. If this is a problematic area, consider getting a roll bead (pretty sure that's what it's called) into the plate...then weld that in.
