I am planning on buying my buddies 1984 toyota extra cab sr5 turbo manual. I just wanted to know what do you guys recommend to make this truck go fast or quick with it still being able to be streetable. How much horsepower can the stock rearend hold? My plans where to do a stock floor body drop, 20's, etc. Every since I have been for a ride in a turbo evo 9. I have been hooked on turbo power. I just want a quick minitruck without doing a 2jz or v8 swap.

you could comfortably push a few more pounds of boost with slight modification to the stock turbo. the rear end will hold up to that motor. if you get up into the 200+ range i would start upgrading the rear end.

also, you can talk to this guy, or just read through his page....its full of information on specifically the 22r-te motor. tweeks to gain hp on the stock system, bolt on upgrades, etc... its all covered.

Do you think it is better to just swap in a 2rz turbo motor that can punch out 400 horse?
