compressor solenoid

This is a crazy question but I have 2 Viair 450's, I now I have to have a solenoid to run them but ever time I go to the napa store the guy have a hard to understanding what I am talking about, he keeps trying to give me a ford starter solenoid and those want work they will just burn up, What is the name of the type of solenoid I need to ask for ( Its the solenoid you don't have to ground), You just hook up 12v supply,switch power and comperssor hot wire,

i know what you are talking about, but the ones at napa are like $60. a friend of my dads does auto electric work on all sorts of crap and has an 80amp 100% duty solenoid he got me for $18, and works great. he said its for an auxilary battery for an older RV. its either that or i think stinger makes one, but its pretty $$.

you could also use 2 bosch relays. one for each compressor. just make sure you have a 50amp or so fuse on the main feed from the battery.

I was just about to say the same thing as Bryan, use an auxillary battery relay (looks just like a ford starter solenoid) They run anywhere between $15-20 bucks. The ones i use are 90 amp, 100% duty. I have never burned one out and I use dual Viar pumps as a standard setup in all my customers vehicles. I run a 40 amp fuse at the battery with 4 guage power cable going to the solenoid.

Get a Stinger SR80 on E-Bay. I have'nt ever had any problems with mine in the last 3 years.

ford starter solonoid will work. Run 12v to pressureswitch then from switch to the small contact on the solonoid. Then run battery to the big post on it and the other big post to the comps
