I've got a 97 H/B (4cylinder, 5 speed) with a 10 gallon fuel cell. I'm only getting about 200 miles per tank (20 MPG) on mostly highway driving. Is it just me, or does that seem really low. I've only had this truck for about 5 months and driven it minimally until recently. Just looking for some feedback. I'm about to have a tuneup on it and replace the fuel filter (don't yet know if it needs it), but I'm just looking for better gas mileage.

my 97 always got around 20
maybe 18/19 if i was on it really hard
around 22 if mostly interstate

Why so poor you think? Was that running A/C. I've still got A/C on mine, and I don't ever run it (all the more reason to bodydrop it to the doors LOL)

yes but a/c never mattered a lot in mileage for me
i manage a mechanic shop and quite frankly, little p/u trucks are never as efficient as little cars, ie: hondas, toyotas, or even nissans

I get 24 in my '94 hardbody, 2.4 5spd. It never sees over 3,000 rpm, though. And yes, that is with the a/c on.

mine usually gets a little over 3,000 RPM right before I shift, but when I'm on the highway running 70mph, it stays at about 3200-3500RPM's. Could that have something to do with it or is that normal for a Nissan? Sorry for all the questions. This is the first Nissan I've ever owned.

You must have the 4.10s. Mine has 3.55s. Ya, it will eat more gas with them 4.10s. What is your axle code? It should say it on the door jamb sticker. Try posting on nissanforums.com Send JoeyS a PM. He helped me ID my axle and gear ratios. From what I hear, 24-26 is about the best for these trucks.
