I'm thinking about buying a mobile GPS reciever for my Dak. What brand/model do you have, why and how much? My girl thinks it's funny everytime I stop and ask directions. j/k

Your thoughts, opinions, suggestions, flames, bashings and insults are encouraged and welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Are you looking for and indash unit like dvd/nav? If you don't care about modding your dash, I'd go with the Eclipse AVN5435. It's a really nice unit, and it's easy to bypass th dvd lockout. If not, I'd try to get a Pioneer Avic N1. The N2 is nice, but you can't use most of the nav functions while you're moving unless you bypass it. It's harder to do but can be done. I've installed and used both, and I personally like the eclipse better. It's easier to use and is more user friendly.

I have a Garmin StreetPilot III. Cost around $900 new, but was well worth it. You can buy a used one on eBay for around $300. Plus there are no service fees.

It has every business you can think of already preprogrammed in the unit; such as restaurants and shopping, etc. It's very easy to use, has voice and visual driving instructions, and I have never gotten lost since I've had it. The only things I don't like about it is it don't have the new touch screen technology, the memory chip will only hold between 4 to 8 states at a time, and the upgraded map software is expensive

I have the AVIC-D1 Pioneer and it rocks. But does anybody know how to bypass the E-Brake Wire and where it is or whatever?

Thanks for the suggestions fellaz. I'm leaning towards a Garmin product of some sort.

For bypassing the E-brake, all you do is ground the wire. I got one of those in dash tv/dvd head units in my truck, and you just Ground the parking brake wire, It should be marked. My wire was pink.

My car audio guy, that hooked up my AVH5700DVD put in some kind of switch to override it. all i do is flip the switch to keep people from f**king with it.
