does anyone know where to get spring and weight kits from for the stock distributor?

Off hand I don't know of any specific kits for the Toyota distributors, the only one I can recall was the one sold by NWOR, it was just a single lighter spring to replace one side in the stock distributor to let the mechanical advance a little quicker, it sold for about 15.00 for the single spring, the old part number was 41103 if they still sell them.

You might be able to pick up a kit, most any speed shop used to sell them, for a small block chevy, they had some weights, would be of no use, but also had a good assortment of different tension springs, with a advance timing light you could do some trial and error to find the spring or springs that work best for you..

Now this is something I just read several years back and never pursued it to see if it was in fact true, but it said some of the earlier 20 celica engines used heavier weights in the distributor to quicken the advance, and they would swap out to the later 20/22r distributors.

Personally I run a Mallory Unilite full mechanical distributor on both my engines, they are adjustable, parts are available, and with the dual side drafts almost a must with the lack of manifold vacuum.
