I just got back from my local hardware store... i was looking for Brass fittings for when I install my new Air System...

Was told that the "Push To Connect (PTC)" fittings are the best way to go, because of ease of use and safty as compared to Compression fittings.

Well, there were a LOT of compression fittings... and "MPT" and "FPT" fittings.

But I could'nt find any PTC fittings.

So my question is, other then on-line, where can I find the PTC fittings... and what do they look like so that i know?

And what are the MPT and FPT fittings?

All i know of are Compression fittings. Thanks all for the help!

The fittings at the hardware store are not going to be d.o.t. approved. I would not use them. Some people do but IMO i would not. Do you have a parker store nearby, also any big rig supply stores around? They will have fitings too.

Well , I ran both .. Had leaks with both .. pro's and cons of both. Good place to get em like cruisinlows10 said is a parker store .. there gonna run you a little bit but its all good. Now personally Im running hardline with the compression and dont have any leaks .. had some problems with the ptc's but to each his own

Compression:

Push-To-Connect (PTC):

Hey like they said, whether its compression or PTC, the best way to go is DOT Approved.

Do you already know exactly what you need, or are you figuring that out as well as where to get them? Either way I'd be glad to help if you decide to get them online.. I made this form to fill out for when I help my friends get their fittings, and we havent really had to make trips to the hardware store lately lol..

first time when i bagged my truck i used push to connect fittings that i got through a local air plaec that had aeroquip shit. this time around i'm using all stainless hardline and braided lines and some dot line for the guages, and i am using all stainless sweglok and gyrolok fittings. they are alot pricier than most fittings, but they will last and i've heard all good things from them. i got mine through a friend, but i think if you go to www.tubefittings.com they have them, (yes you can use them on dot nylon hose)

Parker stores and online is about your only option you might be able to find some that you need at a big rig store. We have them on our site ready to ship if you end up buying online
