my dad has a '93 astro van, and only gets 15 mpg. i keep telling him to get a k&n filter to improve it. anyone who has a k&n filter in their astro van, post here and let me know what if any gas mileage improvements you noticed. thanks.

Won't help. It's a hog dude. Get a honda if you wanna save the gasoline. Or one of those 3 cylinder geos.

he needs a van for work. its gotta help a little bit. even fractions of a mpg is better than nothing.

it will help a little.throttle body spacers are available, plus an exhaust will help also.theres a bunch of stuff you can do to get better mileage.

hey, ive never used a k&n, but ive heard they help a little, honestly you prolly wont even notice, those 4.3 motors will eat gas no matter what

i don't think this one is TBI. it has the airbox at the front of the engine bay. also, not all 4.3's will eat gas. the one in my '97 s10 got 28 mpg with a 5 spd and 3.08 gears.

a 97 was also a throttle body'd vortec engine. and the van will not have 3.08 gears in it either

my 89 astro , w/4.3 and a od auto gets 24 mpg , and its a rag , dont know whats up with his , maybe that biotch needs a tune up
deathtorice   +1y
cant need a tune up. it's got a brand new jasper engine and transmission in it, with less than 10,000 miles. all new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. BUT all the original sensors and shit. mabey we should coff up the money and replace all that shit.

My 88 Astro, 4.3 with hi compression pistons , small cam and Edelbrock intake still got almost 25 on the hwy .
