I got two 12 sony xplod speakers in a sealed box now but it is a lot bigger then the sealed box size recommended. So should I cut and make it smaller to the specs or should I port the box? If I port should I build it to the ported box specs or leave it the size it is now wich take up the whole trunk with just a little room for my air tank. I wanting the most spl and i'm good at building boxs so help me choose.

IF U WANT SPL... GO PORTED AND USE A BETTER SUB THAN SONY

ported boxes are tricky, you have to tune them right to the sub. I would just go with a sealed box as per the sub's recommended air space.
there's nothing wrong with sony subs, they're just not the highest end speakers in the market

GET A SEALED BOX. IT'S A LOT CLEANER BASS.

Don't cut that box up to change the size, just build a new box it's cheap and easy.

I did build this box a few months ago after I blew apart the bandpass that I bought with the sony, so I dont care about cutting it up. I should of pay more attention to how it should of been build so I wouldnt be doing it again. Yall sayin that I should build the box to the air space specs if I go sealed? What if I go ported, should I leave the size now or build it too to the ported air space specs? So I will get more spl with ported if done right?

Any time u build a box or even buy a box already built, weather it's a sealed or ported, go by the specs of the subs
