Okay, this is in response to another thread, but I am kinda curious myself. So I am in Iraq right now, and will be outta here in a couple of weeks, I was in Afghanistan back in 2002, and have been to a couple other places before and after. I know what I have seen and done, but I am curious about other folks.
IN response to the other thread, I wanna share some of what I think is important that doesn

I was in Iraq last time around (91).

While it was a tough time in my life, it was a cakewalk compared to what you guys are dealing with today. (And handling exceptionally well, I might add.)

I was in Iraq for the war (OIF). Of course, I saw some horrible things. But I also saw some of the good that we did. We gave out tons of humanitarian rations. Since 10% of the population had 90% of the money we

You brought up some good point. The humanitarian stuff we do is great. Rolling through and being able to see the way people react when they are given anythign. ANd they are extremely greatful of it too.
Also with the folks cheering and waving, ans stuff. They dont do it the same as at the beginging, but they still do it, especially after something big happens. Always happy to see us then.
The hospitals here in Iraq that are run by the US military/Coalition forces see and treat more civilians than military, not that we dont ge the care we need, but we are helping every day, and without that several of these people would die. The Iraqis are fully capable of doing it themselves, and in many cases much more experieinced, but they do not have the supplies to treat those that need to be treated.
You are correct again with the bad guys. They are not Iraqi. It is rae to have an Iraqi that is doing the things that are going down over here. Most are Syrian and or Iranian, that or from even further away.
I cant stress how pleased the Iraqi people are to ahve us here, like you said, a small percentage do not want us here, but most do.
