If the side molding is just attached with adhesive what's the best way to remove it? Thanks
Use a heat gun "carefully" to heat up the glue and the molding should pull off( you may have to do a little area at a time)then clean up any left over glue with 3m adhesive remover.
^^^ that's the best bet, I've also used the plastic drywall mud scraper deals to pry them off GENTLY. I doubt you care, but odds are good that you'll mess up the paint on the moldings when you pull them off, so if you did need to re-use them try to pull them off as straight as possible. If the paint on them spiderwebs/cracks you'll need to strip them to get a good finish again...
a little fishing string will do the trick for taking them off if you dont have a molding removal tool , then u can use a 3m eraser wheel to take off the double stick tape thats left over...
Great thanks for the responses... where might I be able to pick up those 3M products? Paint supply stores?
yup fishin string and a 3m wheel, ive seen em at walmart, there the yellow ones.
Fishing String and the 3M Eraser Wheel. That wheel wont mess up your paint either, trust me, I tried!
Great thanks for the help
Just pull that bitch off, use your thumb to roll off the remaining adhesive, then use DX440 to clean off residue.
Think I'll have any discoloration? The truck has been garage kept for the last 5 years but before that it's anyone guess since it was purchased used.
