anyone goin to school for machine tool technology? dealing with cnc machines, lathes millwork and related. ive been thinkin about enrolling in this program, just wonderin if its worth it, are there alot of decent jobs in this field?

there are a lot of jobs in the field very good job and a lot of high paying one after a couple of years working. 20-30 and hour. but there are a little of thing that you well have to know and a lot of shit the will frive you nuts.

I dont work on the machines, but I do work in a company that has lots of them. The machinist here seem to really like their jobs. Consider this - if you are running a part that takes 45 min. you will have a lot of time on your hands, could be boring, could be just an easy day. And as far as I know all the guys have a pretty good pay check. Definately a good job to consider. Good Luck, guy.

I am currently attending school for machine tool. Its a 2 year program is all manual maching and layout work, and the second year which i am in rite now, is all CNC machining.
It is well worth it to enroll classes for machining. The things you can do on a CNC are endless exspecially when you learn about 3D machining. You can make anything you want.
