I'd like to get my engine under a stock hood but the only thing I see holding me up is the transmission. The pan on it is really really low, and I have no idea where to even start on doing something about it. Anybody know how to fix it or possibly done this before??

hm.. i dunno about sectioning the transmission pan, that certain amount of fluid is in there for a reason, and its not that deep, considering the filter is in there. maybe shimming the tranny up alittle? how much does it lack from touchin the ground?

Dont have a measurement but I know it's close, no more than an inch maybe.

i have a 4.3 under a 2 1/2 cowl hood. the reason i need my hoo is the a/c compressor and the alternater. my intake is low enough to clear a stock hood. i had an idea to fix that though. the acc bracket for a fullsize is steel, not cast aluminium. you can cut, move and relocate the acc then you'll be good

You need to raise it up with a spacer. Might have to raise the tunnel to get good clearence. Also make sure that by doing that it doesn't tilt the front of the engine down. By that i mean if you can keep the back of the engine lower than the front it will help with oil getting to the sump in the oil pan so it doesn't starv for oil. That shouldn't be that big a deal, as long as the back of the engine is not like 2+ lower than the back. Just try to raise the tranny enough to clear, an inch should not have any effect on the pitch of the engine so you should be good.
