Using Pioneer Premier amps/subs.....

"For Immediate Release:

Kansas City Missouri, October 15, 2005 - IASCA Competitor member Scott Owens of Team Edge Audio, Tempe, Arizona has accomplished what many once labeled the impossible. In the IASCA IdBL competition lanes at the USACi / IASCA Unified Finals, Scott and his team broke the 180dB mark for the first time in Soundoff history. Never before on any meter, in any country, has this SPL barrier been broken. The new world record in IASCA IdBL was recorded at 180.3 dB and was backed up with a second run matching the first. Scott competes with his Silver Ford F150 in the IASCA Ultimate 4 Division.

When asked what Team Edge Audio did to reach this milestone, Owens said,

do you have any idea how many subs he was running and what size and the amount of power or any other details????

i wouldnt doubt that there is some controversy with that number because spl varies from mic to mic. It will vary as much as 3db or more +/-

Scott started developing the 2002 Ford F-250 back in May of 2002, he broke it down right to the frame for the construction of the subwoofer enclosures; which currently holds 13 Pioneer Premier TS-W5000SPL subwoofers!

Man that is some hard bass! My old friend Brantley Waites from here in Lexington was the first one to break 160db as well as 170 I believe. I sat in his Ford Van when it was hitting that hard and it was unreal. I can't imagine 180db. BTW, Brantley ran 18 Cerwin Vega Stroker 15's at that time till he quit competing.

Edge Audio is right next to my old office. Never knew anything about it. I just remember seeing that truck sitting half in a transport trailer. If I remember correctly that day it had slipped off the loading ramps and they wer trying to get the truck back out of the trailer. If I would've known the truck was an SPL truck of that magnitude I would've stopped by to see it.
