Ok we got a new pioneer cd player for my friends saturn we hook it up perfectly sotter all the wires together and plug it in and nothing happen's i checked the ground and the 12 volt acc. are ok the fuse is good also the 12 memory wire is cool. the only confusing part of the install i hit was the wire harness for the cd player had a orange and white wire for illumnation and the wire harness for the car had a solid orange wire for the illumination. well after the cd player didn't work at all we hooked back the factory cassett player it turns off and on , when its on it gives feedback to the speakers and thats it.. no display or anything else ... Where did i go wrong ?

sounds like a short or you may have wired something wrong, im not sure though

did you use a harness adapter or hardwire it?

I would go to installdr.com and refrence your wireing to see if its correct and i would also check fuses on the cdplayer.

You have blown the constant 12v fuse or shorted that wire in the harness. The symptoms you describe with the factory radio, just static and no display, that is the exact cause. That also explains why your new one doesnt work.

If you put a test light on the yellow wire of the pioneer, you should have power even with the key off. I promise you that it is not on. DO NOT PUT IN A LARGER FUSE SIZE. Most likely you were jacking around with the harness before you soLDERED all the wires together and the yellow wire touched the black wire or the steel of the dash. Thats all it takes to snap a fuse.

Check the fusebox. Thats your problem gauranteed. I installed for 10 years, every time a factory GM (Saturn is GM) radio was static and no display, the 12v constant fuse was out.
