yesterday i blew my Kicker 12" L5. Its powered by a 2450 watt mono amp. smoke started pourin outta the port and shit. Can you get new voice coils, or send it in to get fixed? or would it be better to get a new sub all together? thanks

If you're gonna keep the same sub you're going to have to get another, it would probably cost as much to have it fixed (if they can) than to just buy another. If you're going to run that much power, have you ever thought about a different sub, that can hold that much

ya does a new L7 12" sound good? or another sub around that price range? Cause i like Kicker. its lasted for like 3 years and was loud as fu*k. So ya it looks like ill get a new one

Hell if its lasted that long I'd say go with another, hope you get the same luck out of that one. I've never had any sub last me three years

i would definatley go with a kicker L7 12" much more power handling and they pound, trust me they are loud as balls, i love my kickers, i beat the hell out of them and never blow them, ( knock on wood ) i would definatley recomend getting a smaller amp or turning that one down though, that is way beyond the max power rating of the L7 especially the L5 hell if you want to mazimize your power get a freakin 12" kicker solo X

ok wow I'm gonna be the first one to call BS on this whole thing??? There is no way in hell that 1 Kicker L5 sub has handled 2450 watts... but then again what amp is it? and also what ohm is the sub cause the only way that that sub would handle that power is u running it at like an 8 ohm load which would cut the power in fourths, or the amp is extremely Over Rated.
let me know I'm very interested to what u have to say about this all

I have 1L7 12", and I have 2 Kicker ZR 240's on that one sub and have never had any problems and I always play my sub hard!!

it's rated at 750 watts rms.........your gonna blow em all the time putting that much power into em. turn you're gain waaaaay down on your amp. you can call kicker and get a r/a number (return authorization) if you've had it under a year. if it's been over a year, you can still get it repaired through kicker for a small fee. round 50 bucks i believe. call em up.
