Computers In Trucks

I was thinkin about putting an LCD monitor in my truck and hooking up a hard drive to it to keep my music collection on. Has anyone ever done this before? What all did you use as far as equipment, and how does everything wire up? Pictures would helpa lot. Thanks in advance.

i did one before, if you know how to build computers its pretty easy, you need a video card with a TV out, power inverter, wireless mouse and keyboard, LCD screen, a deck with a audio input, and i got a remote off ebay for winamp, i had mine mounted up in my dash where the glove box used to be. but someone broke in and stole my screen, and i never replaced it. it kicked ass tho

one thing ive heard is that ur hard drive will get messed up being in a car due to the bumps and vibrations...esp since im on bags and im constantly hittin switches. Is this tru, and what can u do to prevent that?

well, i could talk about this all day, but i will tell you that drivesoft.net is really expensive last i check...it is cheaper to just build your own. Its not that hard and its alot easier than baggin your truck.

Also...if you get a laptop harddrive and mount it verically you should be ok...Also a laptop ODD (optical disk drive) is a beter way to go and takes up less room...so does a laptop harddrive...hope all this was helpfull
