ok... i have one of the cheap 2 prong pressure switches for my engine driven comp. my battery keeps gettign drained somehow, and i thought it was an on/off switch that i have between the pressure switch and the battery. To me, u shouldnt even need the on/off switch for control.

My question is... can a pressure switch still work(turn on and off the compressor) but leave the circuit open when the truck is off??? I was thinkin that when the truck is off, the pressure switch would not engage, but it does. Is this a bad switch?

are you running your battery line directly through your ps, if so the first thing i would fix is to add a relay and make your switched line the +12v thats coming off of the PS.

rip the pressure switch off and run a toggle.... thats how real men do it hahah

as said by alex, i had a simple 2 prong switch and it kept blowing fuses cutting on and off, turned out it was a defective ps and i replaced it with an on/off toggle and works perfect everytime so far. try it and see, i would still add a relay in there somewhere too.

what i plan on doing when i put in my pressure switch is also have a toggle. I'll leave the toggle on most of the time but if i don't want to listen to the compressors i can still manuely turn them off

you may want to run a relay as mentioned above, i don't have one, am i'm not sure how much current it takes to engage an edc. but mine will still engage when you flip the toggle, with the engine off. i would keep the toggle though especially with a 4 banger, i wouldn't want mine turning on when accelerating on the highway. also i remember an article in minitruckin years back where they installed a switch that automatically turned your a/c off under heavy acceleration, that would work for the edc as well.

well guys hes talkin about a belt driven, the electric part on it is the clutch, and if you are running 12v constant through the pressure switch, if the tank leaks down the pressure switch will turn on the clutch, even if the engine isnt moving, ive had that problem a couple times, run the power to the pressure switch from a 12v switch source, like something that will turn on when the key is turned to accessory.

what cris said

if u dont want to do that, you could always just hook the PS up to a relay and you'll be able to switch it thru the relay, i'd prefer to do that just incase yer PS ever goes out

Ive never had anything but bad luck with pressure switches. Every one i used got killed in short time, now i just run a toggle switch.
