I have an 88 D-50 that appearantly used to be fuel injected. When I got the truck as a daily driver it had a weber carb on it with a bunch of wireing plugs all around it. I was told by the previous owner that the plugs are off the fuel injection. Here is my question.....since its carburated, do I need my computer and all the extra wiring? I want basically a clean/wireless engine bay. Is it possible to run my truck without all that crap?? If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

if it is a carb truck now yeah you can loose the cpu as long as the gauges are mechanical if not then you will have to convert your gauges

my dad has an 89, his is carburated but there are like 100 wires and vacuum lines because its a efbc (electronic feedback carburator) so its ran electricly or something. there really hard to rebuild i guess so everyone switches to weber caus its cheaper....thats what hes been told by 2 mechanics

So I can get rid of my computer. The only wires that go to my carb ar for the choke which have nothing to do with the computer. Originally posted by ramslam1998

Do any D50s or Mighty Max come with mechanical guages by chance? If not ill just save up and buy some nice looking ones. Thanks guys

you CANNOT ditch the cpu I just fin a Mazda B2600 (same truck) and all the gauges plus coolant and egr shit still are monitored through it

i dont believe any of te 80s d-50, ram 50, power ram 50, plymoth arrow, mightymax...came fi. it wasnt until the 2.4 in the 90s that they were fi. The ram 50 came with a 2.0l or a 2.6l g52b block. you should be able to ditch alot of that stuff but i stull think that there is a computer in it anyways on the passenger side in the cab if im correct.
