ok im finally trying to get my truck going again and it started yesterday but for some reason today it just keeps turning over and over, its getting gas and i've even sprayed starter fluid into the TBI still nothing. the distributor cap has been turn which people are telling me is the problem but it started yesterday with the cap in alot of different places, all the fuses are good, and the fuel pump is working. Anybody have any ideas, and if it is the timing (distributor cap) how do i get it back to a working point? thanks for any help.

you need to start by pulling a plug and seeing if it has spark, you said its getting gas, then go from there

yeah man.. see if it has spark... if it has spark i whould pull the all the plug wires off the cap and plugs..... take the number one plug out of the block....the first one twords the front of the truck on the drivers side with the spark pluged removed get someone to bump the starter with your finger in the numberone hole when the compresion pops your finger out of the hole thats top dead center.... remover the cap and where ever the roter is pointing wire your plugs from there clockwise.....just asamuing you have a 350 firering order is 18436572...thats just what i whould do man....

You set the timing with a timing gun and you go off the fan belt it has a white line on it that you shoot the gun at and turn dist. from there

if its getting spark and fuel the the timming is out.pull the spark plug out of cyl.#1 put a finger on the spark plug hole and slowly get someone to bump start the engine when the piston blows you finger out of the spark plug hole you should be at top dead centre on #1 cyl. then remove the dist. cap and see if the rotor is pointing at the #1 cyl if not then your out on your dist and will have to pul it and re set it til the rotor is pointing at #1cyl.
