ive always been told heavier is better so the thicker the better. but tractor hydro fluid works too walmart sells a 5 gallon bucket for 30.00 or so. n it works great as for how much dump the ride all the way. bleed the hoses attach to the cylinders n dump again and fill the tank up top it off just incase u ever get a leak. also its best to fill it up so the motor dosnt burn up due to lack of fluid

i've been told that but in the hydraulic hotline in lowrider mag, they said that if you run a heavy oil,in the winter time it will make your pumps run slow cause the cold weather thickens it.so what's a good weight to run? and how much?

the truck i just got already has hydros and one of my tanks is only about half full.

Okay, from back when i had hydraulics a couple months ago, i remember i put in 30 weight non detergent oil and it worked fine.

As for filling the pumps, don't fill them up a whole lot, the oil reseviour or whatever is under a lot of pressure when it pumps it out. I'd leave it at about half maybe 3/4s full at most.

my buddy has been running tractor fluid in his pumps and it worked fine. just fill your tanks almost to the top and you should be golden. in the winter it dosent matter what weight oil is in your pumps its still gonna slow them down.and when you fill them up make sure your ride is all the way down.

non detergent motor oil is by far the best. i blew one seal the entire time i had hydros and the only reason it happened was the chrome plating on the cylinder came off and ripped the seal. Other than that i had not one leak for over a year. Alot of guys use 5w-30 motor oil and have problems because after time the detergents in the oil eat the seals in the pump head and cylinders. At least this is what i've been told.

dont forget though you cant fill them all the way cause as you dump different positions the oil will go to different tanks imagine a two pump set up pancake up now dump your left now dump your rear and pancake up again after a few times of doing this you will realise one tank is more full then the other anyways no biggy thats why i run a whammy tank
