what is " Zing " the frame mean?

What is "Zing" the frame and what does it take to do it and how much lower does it go?

i Z'ed my frame on my yota an inch so the truck would lay full frame and lay flat. there are some pics on here in the toyota truck forums of the process.

z-ing the frame is where the front clip is cut right about where the firewall is.

the purpouse for this is to lay your frame flat on the ground when the front crossmember hangs below the framerail.

how much lowwer? this depends on how much lowwer you front crossmember is in relation to you chassis.

one thing to watch for when z ing your front frame is the angle you put the motor when you are done i did mine an inch but i corrected the angle back of the motor with my 350 swap so it was all good

the way i 'see' it is u just cut the front clip of the frame off...and lower the front clip of the frame and reweld it back? wouldnt that throw the body off as well and everything else? or am i missing something?

well you drop the front mounts down, then boom the front end lines back up.

you do understand that you Z a frame when you are body dropping not just for a regular lowering job.

You can z a frame on a truck without a bodydrop. On square body chevy's the crossmember hangs about 2 1/2 inches below the rest of the frame. These trucks frame only hangs barely below the body so a frame z will give you almost a stock floor bodydrop. You can get the rest out of the body mounts. Thee some of the easiest trucks to do this on.

i didnt meen just body dropping i just wrote it wrong i ment Z-ing the frame is not something that you do just to lower a truck if you are going to z-the frame then you should be in the process of body dropping it other wise it is pretty useless to waste your time. It is a big undertaking and what you said was you can z the frame and then move the body mounts to get a stock floor body drop so that would be a body drop.
