are these 2 little cracks the sign of a screwed up head? i traded an isuzu i had for a mazda, and we assumed it had a blown head gasket, but since it takes like 2 days to take all the factory crap off the engine to get the head off, i checked the parts for cracks, and found these 2 between valves. so this is junk now right?

ps 2 of the head bolts came out with the oil/water mix on them, dunno if that means anything.

i just pulled the head off one of my mazdas last night and luckily found no cracks ... But bad news for you that those two cracks are the BIGGEST problem with mazdas and yes that head is bad. Anyone that has head problems with a Mazda will tell you to look between the valves for cracks and thats whats allowing oil to seep in to the cylinder. I imagine it smoked alittle huh.LOL

Yeah Mazda heads blow, mines not cracked but it was still getting oil into the cylinder so I have to have it checked out because a lot of the time a head will even be warped. I just hope its the dam head gasket.

this truck didnt smoke any, the temp just rose alittle, then my buddy stopped it, and had it towed home. there was steam comin out of the exhaust, mostly coolant was in the cylinders though, 2 head bolts on the exhaust side had the oil/water mix on them. dunno though, im gonna get this other head, and check it though.

yep, as been said, no es bueno. It doesnt have to have milkshake oil to be bad... steam in the exhaust is enough.

Corey is right, that is very common.
