hey, i am picking up a 90 accord from a friend this weekend and have been searching all week about air suspensions for hondas. from what i have read so far it sounds like aim and smc have the best cylinders. does anybody have good pics of the cylinders installed? ideas ? more info? on the mic site it shows strut bags for 90 accord, but everyone seems to say stay away from stut bags. any help would be great, i'd like to do the install myself over the winter.

I've had AIM cylinders in my car for three years with no problems, but everybody else says to use SMC.
You want the 4 inch for the front and the 3.5 inch for the rear.
If you have any welding skills, you can easily make the mounts yourself.

what about stroke ? aim has 80 mm bore with 100 or 150 mm stroke, which works best with the accord?
metal fab is no problem, i just don't what i need yet. i know there is a top plate and a botton fork....what are the dimensions though ?
do you have any pics of your front set up ?
thanks!

anybody else....

I don't know what the stroke is on mine. They should know which ones you need when you order them. If you are set on trying to lay it out, the shorter cylinders would be easier to work with.
I would recommend buying the lower front mount. It is made out of billet aluminum or steel and would be stronger than most that you could make.
The rest of the mounts just need to hold the cylinder in place. I'm sure there are some pictures at AIM to look at for ideas.

so there is no shock reolcating right ? you have the air trapped in the cylinder for suspension?

If you have the skill you can add shocks but very few people have done it. A lot of the ride quality depends on where you have the valves mounted. I recommend keeping all the valves in the trunk and using accumulators for the rear. It won't be as fast, but it will make all the difference in ride quality.

i read that valves as close to the cylinder is faster, but i'm not concerned with speed.
thanks for all your help ! can you email me a picture of your front setup ?
do you think cans are more reliable then bags?

Valves closer to the cylinder is faster. That is where I put mine when I first installed it. Cylinders don't have much air inside of them to compress when you hit a bump, so if the valves are close, the air compresses quickly and makes the car bounce back up really quickly.
When the valves are in the back, it can compress all the air in the lines and it rides much smoother.
I don't have any pictures of my suspension. There is nothing worth taking pictures of with cylinders.
