I want to paint my rims so here are my questions. What kind of paint? How many coats? What did you do to prep the wheels? They are stock Chevy 17" alloys btw.

im about to get a set of eskies and am wondering the same. should the clear coat be stripped or can you scuff, prime and paint as normal?

ive painted steel wheels with good results just with scuffing with like 220 and spray bombing it with quality paint.

im sure there are other ways but i know of 2.
A. powdercoat them, this will be very strong but may not have aglass like look, but they will be shiny. so one time through the oven and you should be good, the best way to prep them would be to sandblast them. other way is to paint them with high grade auto paint, if your truck can handle the abuse of the elements, so can your wheels, as long as the wheels are prepped like the body fo a car and painted the same way you should be fine. good luck.
