i have got my mazda down to the bare frame now and am starting to re build the frame, the stock frame is 1/8" steel, just wanted some opinions on 2" box or 3" and 1/8" or 3/16" want it to be sturdy enough to drive and drag but weight can be a factor too, let me know guys

Damn the stock frame is 1/8? Anyway, 2x3 or 2x4 .120 is fine.

Oh, and if you plan to drag that brand new frame I'd use blocks or some skid pads....120 won't last you long.

You can really use either material when doing frame work. I have used both on stuff I've built and haven't had any problems. The 3/16 doesn't warp as much when you weld it which is a consideration for those individuals without a ton of experiance with this type of work. You certainly do not need to use 1/4 inch, this is just overkill on material trying to make up for a lack of engineering.

Everyone that i know uses 1/4 wall for stock floor body drops, now seeing as how its just a lil mazda 3/16 should be fine.

I would ALWAYS use 1/4 wall tubing on frames.

We use 1/4 wall on all our frames. Better safe than sorry.

i disagree, dont use 1/8" wall. the stock frame maye be 1/8" but its 4 or 5" tall. since youre shrinking the height, increase the wall. 3/16" should be ok but I like to go 1/4" to be safe.
