my 98 s-10 4cyl 5speed is acting weird, it has 70,000 miles on it. when i start the truck, it idles weird, when i rev it up, the motor shakes, and it tops out at about 25mph, my first thought is the spark plugs, but im not sure, it might be the fuel injectors. any help please.

it sounds like you are dropping a cylinder or two. check the plug wires or it could be one of the coil packs. there are two, one could be bad, making you run on two cylinders.

ok, so there are coil packs, thats good to know. also, i was thinking i will change the plugs either way, the plugs are hella hard to get to. but to you it does sound like its not getting spark either between the plugs or the coil packs?

step one 1) remove 4 cylinder engine and 5 spd transmission

step two 2) replace with 350 and TH350 transmission

step three 3) Have fun

my truck did the same thing and it wold like to go stall if i took my foot off the gas and it was just a whole bunch of things that were acting weird come to find out today that it is the crank postioning sensor oh yea and some times it would run like a champ and then sometime it would run like junk

this might be a long shot but, on this other 4 cyl. S10 i had, one of the rocker arms came off of the rod, therefore, no compression on that particular cylinder. Your symptoms sound exactly like what mine was doing. It's easy to check, just yank off the valve cover and check all of the rocker arms to make sure they are tight..good luck w/ it
