so i ended up getting an alt. from a 95 ford windstar minivan. stock at 130amp i read a thing in another thread and off to the pickapart i was

so i grabbed the new alt, and a pigtail for the plug. the mounting points do look totally different between the ford and mazda alts if you look at them in the same aspect. now imagine flipping the ford alt upside down hmmmm, drill out the threads on the bottom, run the bottom bolt through there. then run a long bolt through the top section with a nut on one side for the tensioner arm.

mazda 55amp left, ford 130amp right

ground off about 3/8" of material so the belt would line up with the inner pulley

i had to grind off about a 1/4" from the pulley side of the mount for the top

make sure you connect the middle wire from the plug over to the field. screwed this up the first time following the other directions, didn't work. works good now

i made a little splice wire to run the choke for now on 12v+, not the proper way to do it, but it'll do for now

heres a wiring diagram for this style of alt

JUST to be clear...as the pic is blurry.... on this part:

"make sure you connect the middle wire from the plug over to the field. screwed this up the first time following the other directions, didn't work. works good now "

you ran the middle wire from the FORD 3 wire plug to the small single wire plug just next to it?

Thanks

NOTE ON PULLEY.......I got an alt off a 2001ish Taurus and the Mazda pulley is 1. Too small and 2. requires some sort of spacer to lift it off the alternator. I have drilled out my pulley holes BUT am havin issues finding a spacer.

this is so easy i cant believe this has not been done many times over. better than the one wire gm any day.also you can use the mazda pully and there was a spacer on the mazda pully that i used worked fine.
