ok so i finally got around to doing this and so far so good. and when Axel says dont loosen those 2 screws DONT DO IT. i felt i had to because my mirror just wouldn't come off but luckily i was able to somewhat tighten one of the screws. when i have time i'm going to see if there's a way to get the actual mirror off the housing so i can tighten that other screw.
thanks again for the write up man.

Thanks guys! Glad I could help with this common problem.....just about every truck I have owned that had these type mirrors, at least one if not both, were loose or chewed up by the star washer.......an easy fix though.....mine are still working great!

Nothing like a little lube on the pole to make things easier...

I want the record to show that Steve_AZ posted that, not me !!!
And to think that Mazda trucks started his downward path to this....

sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but I just wanted to say thanks to the OP. I couldn't figure out how to tighten these mirrors. It's nice to actually be able to use them now!

Axel Breaker Earl (ABE) has been the role model for many of us here to document our own repair how-tos, not to pat ourselves on our backs, but to show others.
I've bookmarked many of his tips for future use.

Thanks guys! This is what I do these things for.......just a simple thank you after someone has used the info to fix his or her vehicles!
There are plenty of other members here (and in that other forum!) that have priceless info that they have contributed here and helped us all as well.......so while I'm talking about them, I want to thank them also!!
Thank you all!! Especially to the people that keep these forums going so we can all learn about our trucks!
