my 98 civic w/ a d16y8 has just started to idle kinda bad on me it dont die or anything, but it will sputter bad, sounds like the car is not hitting on all cylinders and i am getting horrible fuel mileage like 19mpg. the car seems to run pretty good when i am giving the car gas.. i am not sure if its a injector or what, if you guys might have an answer please let me know thanks!!! my timing is advanced like 6 degrees but it has been that way for over a year and had no troubles!
never, i am not sure if it is the cold weather, do you think that might have something to do w/ it.. i did not have any problems until it got really cold out..
sounds like a vacuum leak with the loss of power and loss of mileage. they will still run alright once you get driving because it is forcing fuel with all te extra air your are sucking in. take some carb cleaner or start fluid and spray around your vacuum lines on your intake. if it revs up there is your problem. it could have started in the cold due to a line cracking from shrinking up due to cold.
thanks for the tips.. and for jason Fowler, who says i dont already have a mini truck???
Ive just done a 3" bodydrop on my 89 b2200 and getting my air ride setup this week...
What great help for this guy!
Jason it looks like you already drove your c10 off a cliff.
Ross it is probly your IAC or cold start valve. Just take them off and clean them. If that dosn't work bypass them. If you need more help with it IM me.
usually if its a vaccum leak the rpms will surge and drop etc... are you throwing a check engine light? as far as it being the dizzy, usually the rpms will do wird things on the tach... im gona have to agree with chris hall.. with it possibly being the IAC... good luck man...
