Hey guys, I am doing this 1977 dually for a good friend. It's currant state just isn't cutting it and i'm gonna change it. Lots of shops did things here and there so it's gotta get all redone for 2008...in 2008 style.

It's going to have full air ride, 22" Alcoa's, new custom paint and graphics, huge stereo, updated interior etc. Have to freshen up the motor...which is a 454 that's been tricked out to 570 something?. The body has to get completely blasted and re-worked cause it has about a ten years worth of cheese in it. The top was chopped three inches and it's in need of some love here and there. I am still looking for a narrower rear end for it, if I can't get one i'll just widen the fenders.

I am still a little stumped on a rear end kit for this truck. I've been liking the KP Components 4&6 links. Anyone have any suggestions? I need to get this started withing a couple of weeks, so throw all opinions at me.

I've been cutting up perfectly good automobiles since 92, so I can handle a little fab work, but we still have to come in under budget. So some bolt on stuff saves time and brain cells.

Thx in advance...I love this site.

Thanks guys, i'm about an hour north of Toronto. The funny thing is that I have never really liked chop tops on these trucks. I do like them, just on old mercs and ridiculously sectioned over the top rat rods....are we still calling them that? or is that still a bad word?

But the top on this truck was done a while back and needs to be attended to in some areas. It's going to be alot of hard work, and looking at it over the summer, I decided it was my (and some close friends) winter project to get the whole truck back up to par.

I think the main reason I don't like the chop top on this ride is because it's not low enough. The top seems funny, cause the stance is off. If it was lower I know it would look ten times better.

I'm still looking for rear end advice, and pics would be appreciated. I will be doing at least a 4 link, and fabbing up a weld in c-notch. But I am not completely ruling out a bolt in kit....that doesen't look like crap, if the price is right.

Holla.

WELCOME

I think the only bolt on kits for these trucks is from airride tech. And it is just a 4 link w/panhard bar. It also won't lay out without modification, so you would be best just to fab one.

How about that kit from KP Components? Dunno if that will work or not? Should I just call Jerid at SD and see what he recommends?

The kp kit won't fit the 1 ton trucks, unless they got a new kit out I don't know about.

Call Trevor at Tennesse Wheel and Tire. He's lockone on here.
