layin full rail on 20's all round

hey all i am wanting to get my rail laying flat on 20's before we start the stock floor bodydrop, but i am having trouble with the front, i know i will have to z it but how much??

will getting new tubular lower contol arms make it drop more ??cause i have herd of people just boxing out the rail to make it move into the rail-- but will tubular arms do the same thing

or any other advise u all have gotcheers

id wait a bit on tube arms i dont know any one whose installed em on here every bodys been waiting and the guy who makes em is a little backed up just cut in to the rail and box it back up it should lay twentys all day with out z-ing the frame

if you don't have a set of drop spindles, get some. after that it will probably be your lower control arm or a cross member that will hold you up. i don't know about the trucks in oz, but here the isuzu oil pans hang low as fuck. that's probably where the Z would come in.

definitely lay rail before body, or you will have to do a crooked body drop... and please go past the pinch good luck!

Cheers so far. i have got drop spindals in the front i only wanted to do a small Z maybe about 35mm, so i could go bigger on the BD with out to much clearence issues(even know i will have them) but at the moment the lower arm is hitting the rail. n have a guy in australia that can make me tube arms,

how big have you all gone on your Z.s???

has any body tried running 2" drop lower control arms with bags yet i'm getting ready to lay out my truck and don't have enough clearance for spindels only have 1/2 an inch between my fender and wheel

that fenders gona have to come out to lay spindles and arms do the exact same thing they lift your wheel up 2" by the way where did you get your control arms?

You don't really need a 'Z'- Notch. you could just run 225/30-20 tires on the 20's and do all your crossmembers so it can lay flat...

have you got an engine lift???

but if you want to. you really need to work out what size 'z' notch suits you, no one can really tell you it depends on alot of things, tire size, how close it is to the rail now, if the crossmembers are done, etc...

Oh yeah, if you are stock flooring it you will need to make new crossmembers anyway, are you trimming your stock rails down or making new rails???

it is alot easier to make new rails for just under the cab... if you do this when you attach the front of the chassis to the new rails just z-notch it so it lay's flat...

I used 75x50mm RHS for my chassis, I had it bent to the standard chassis shape then it just slides into the old chassis...

yeah we are just gonna trim the rails down and side the RHS in . we have cut the crossmembers out n done new ones

gonna do a 40mm Z so it will lay on 35mm wall tires.
n box the frame out so the lower control arm can move up higher.

but one question i wanna go a bit more than just pinch i was thinking about trimming my cab mounts down as well but am i gonna have dramas with the tailshaft bearing in the middle hitting the floor ??? what did u do trim the floor away or did it not come close

I may have worded myself wrong but i cut my chassis at the firewall and at the back of the cab wall and threw the whole middle piece of the chassis in the bin, including gearbox crossmember and centre bearing crossmember, then i got new rails bent up out of 75x50x4mm RHS.

this size RHS slides into the old chassis at each cut front and rear, then it was seam welded, plug welded, and plated at the join for strength...

If you cut the rails down I wouldn't be sliding RHS in, it will take off like a train. just gusset the inside and weld 4mm plate back on top, remember the stock chassis is rated to carry over 1000kg, so it is alrady overkill for a minitruck that hardly ever carries wieght...

I think you should BD it at least 2.5"
I have a custom centre bearing crossmember, you will probably need to do the same thing, if not just trim and raise the floor in the sections it is hitting...
