no but in addition to the overhang you should use gussets....i never said dont use gussets i was just saying that the overhang is extra place you can weld to in addition to gussets.did i repeat myself....i think i did haha

welding your gussets to the overhang basically does you jack squat because once youve cut out the area to make room youve cut away all of the metal that attaches the "overhang" (which is the control arm mount as well) to the frame....by running the gussets down onto the frame..you are now reattaching the overhang to the frame...

I guess unless you crawl under my truck or any of the other mazdas done like mine you wont get what im sayin. Its just weird looking at all these bagged trucks running around with temporary bag setups in them....meaning it aint gonna last long. I was just posting so people would know to get rid of the bump. actaully you dont have to trim but about half of it outwhich makes tha upper control arm mount pretty beefy still...and i can lay out with factory spindles.

this is how i see a lotta ppl around here bag there torshion bar minis, they weld the gussets to the shock tower. back when i was learning all i could about baggin trucks, somone said that you never weld anything on the shock tower. that was 4 years ago. so i always weld my gussets on the side of the bracket, facing either up or down, which ever way has more contract wtih the actual frame. ive never had a bracket break off or rip off the frame. and i even used a 110 volt welder till last may wehn i got my miller.

BTW, those were the brackets on my yota when i got it, not my work. oh yea, one more thing, when i bag the front of torshion minis, i also match the angle of the upper bag bracket with the angle of the control arm when layed out. its worked out pretty good, my white yota gets like 8.5 inches of lift on firestone 2500's

jp has the right idea and gets what im sayin

yeah i match my upper mount angle to my control arm angle too....ive seen a lot of people not do that and it crooks the bag laid out and looks like shit.the best way is to use a setup bag thats compressed to tack in your upper mount so that it doesnt bind or have any weird affects on the bag.if your upper mount goes strait out dont post pics of it i dont wanna see it.
