the basics for rendering is at least knowing photoshop to a good extent, and then knowing how to apply it towards what you want to do. i recomend just playing around a lot and learning all the tools first and then going from there. because if your just doing tutorials, your not learning. i can tell u right now, 90% of them tutorials that teach you how to do "renderings", is not how i do em. you just have to develop your own ways of doing thing to either make a faster product, or a better quality product, or both. myself, i like to make them where they are COMPLETELY editable, i'm able to swap out, move around, and modify everything about my renderings by using layer masks, folders, and adjustment layers just to name a few. By the time i'm done with the average rendering i have well over a hundred and sometimes 200 layers in a file, all completly organized in there rightfull folders and easily changeable later on. So just keep practicing and learning the tools rather then learning specificly how to do renderings. and please, keep away from filters. only use em when they're need'd, don't over do it... have fun and keep us posted
and Ben, there is a reason we don't give away all our usefull pointers. because it took most of us a while to get good at what we do, and for me, a lot of money also. so before u make anymore lil comments like that, think about it. I've been doin graphic design for WAAAY to long to just give away all the nifty tricks and pointers to some new guy, i'm always willing to lend a hand, but i have limits....
