in your obd2 cars, the air bag will not trip a check engine light or cause any codes that you can find with an obd2 scanner. The air bag module has its own set of trouble codes that when detected will set off the air bag light. The problem could be in the module, or the clock spring (as stated earlier) or in the crash sensors. Finding out what the code is would be the best way to go, that way you know what needs to be done. Otherwise you either have to live with that light on (unless you pull the bulb) or go part swapping until you find the defective part. Remember to kill your battery power before messing around with airbags
