My toyota is getting painted and has been for about 4 monthes, the process is slow but everything is turning out how it should but its taking forever, i mean if i dont go and work on the truck it doesnt get touched, but as soon as i am there the painter is willing to work, hes a cool dude and the shop is painting the truck for free as a sponsorship, but i dont think that is any reason to not work on it and get it done, i mean isnt a sponsor supposed to come through so they can benifit from their sponsorship, i just dont get it, i hate missing shows and without my truck im not really motivated to go to shows, what should i do? the painter told me that he doesnt have the time to spend grunt working it, like taking the old paint off, grinding shit like that and thats why its taking so long, so i started going to the shop to work on it, and now when i get something ready for him, he does his part and works on it with me but when im not there nothing gets done on it? its sucks, and i feel like if im not ther then it isnt going to get worked on, id hate to rush it because i only want to paint it once so i dont want to rush it but man its taking forever and im missing out on shows, biz, fun, draggin, mag coverage, its kinda shitty, i guess im a little frustrated, sorry, needed to woosah the frustration away, goosfrabahhhhh.

Seems like a pretty simple solution to me...go down there and work on it.

To be quite honest though, you really cant complain much if they are doing it for free. They are going to do it on there own time so it doesnt cost them money and im sure if they arent doing it that it is only because they have paying work to get done. The only thing I see wrong with that picture is that it is probably costing them more money to have it sit there rather then to just get it done and out of the shop.

Sit down with the owner tell him you are worried it wont be ready for show season and see what he says.... who knows it may work .

Yeah, I would just continue to go work on it. what you are experiencing is a common side effect of looking for the free handout. he's not making money and I am sure in his eyes "IF IT DONT MAKE MONEY, IT DON'T MAKE SENSE!!!" Lesson learned, next time just pay a shop and forget about a sponsor

your right douggie i havent complained because the work is turning out bitchin and im happy with everything except the time frame, you would think that they would want it out of there. oh well, miss a show or two this season it will be worth the wait i guess. thanks for the input

your right man, sponsor work isnt all its cracked up to be but after a 12k quote from this shop and a few others i think its worth it for the work theya re doing, even if it takes 8 monthes. lol.
