Im getting ready to start a 58 apache. I was just wondering what would be the best way to go about the front suspension? What would I have to do to keep the same basic layout now, or would I HAVE to install another front clip?

Yes mine is a truck and still has the I beam. I was wondering if I could use that setup for bags or if a IFS clip would be needed.

BTW: How far along are you on the panel? Let me know if you have any pics, id like to follow the progress. Good luck with it.

The panel is just getting started, we just got done rippin the frame out from under it and taking off the front sheet metal and all the doors. The wood floor was ripped out last night.

We are planning on using the stock frame and putting some sort of IFS front clip on it and an IRS out back.

Other plans are a chop top and a section!

Whenever you get started on the IFS let me know what you go with. Right now im just going to start body work on the cab and bed and set the rear up for 4 link. The front will probably be one of the last things I do.

Right on man...good luck with your project!

We will be starting the frame real soon, we gotta yank the motor out of it and all the suspension. Then we can take the frame and have it sand blasted so we can work on it

The frame is going to get all boxed in and all the misc holes welded up. Then we can start on the rear and front setups. Ill keep this thread updated with pics!

Ill be sure to keep check on it. Ill post pictures of mine once I do get started, right now its a mess. Just curious, what engine/trans combo are you planning on going with?

I plan on boring a 235 .030 over, installing a big cam, upping the compression, split header, offie 4bbl intake and 4bbl carb. Plus a few more things of course. Backed up by a powerglide.

i have a 59 apache 3100 basically the same setup as yours. we are going to do a complete mustang 2 front end. that way we can do the brake conversion as well. get your hands on classic trucks or a brothers catalog. they have some kits that are not too bad on prices. some of them already come with the bags and everything installed for you.

won't those bodies fit on an s10 frame with the exception of drilling 2 more mounting holes or is that a different year truck? Thought i heard somewhere that you can do that with a a 57

Thanks for the heads up mazda.

mtm, I know alot of people put 47-54 1/2's on s10 frames, dont know if you can do it with a 55 - 59 though. Ill have to check it out.
