hey guys, i need some quick opinions. im lookin at gettin a 99 vw passat, i found one and its the v6 2.8, with the tiptronic tranny. its the glx model so it has all the goodies i want (leather, heated seats, power everything, power sunroof etc) to get what i want in the price range i can afford its gonna have higher miles so i wanted to see what you guys thought about the longevity of the v6 and the tiptronic tranny and just the overall dependability of the passats. any tips or opinions or knowledge would be great, im gonna go test drive it tomorow night.

Thats about the funniest shit ive heard ALL DAY.

VW's are JUNK....trust me i know.

I used to work for a VW dealership and those cars are ALWAYS in the shop for some crap.

They are over engineered pieces of shit from germany.

Ive seen 05 passat's in service for MAJOR shit not oil changes.

Dont buy a VW spend your money elsewhere!

I looked into the VW a while ago but Everytime I rea something on them there was nothing but hate on how they break all the time, I'm pretty sure Consumer reports rated them up there with the poorest reliability. The v6 is def the better of the motors vw puts out though, but its up to you.

my buddy had a 97 jetta for a couple years and couldnt keep power window regulators in it. i think he changed all 4 of them like twice in the 2.5 years he owned it.

other than that, it was a champ!
