hmmm i did not know that,i got 1290 hours in a tech college, i might look into it,what is the air force boot camp like

Basic training is only a very, very small portion of the time you will spend serving your country. Don't worry about what it is like. Everyone will tell you a different story. Boot camp is a filter, a means of weeding out the pussies and suckers who can't follow instructions and are not willing to accept working as a team. If you can't handle responsibility, you can't handle boot camp, nor the armed services. Not saying that you can't handle it of course. I was in the Navy from 85-89. I was 18 and scared shitless of what boot camp was going to be like. Once you are there, you don't have time to compare it to the lax life of sitting on the couch or boinkin' your chick. You will be too busy. Personally I loved basic training. I thought it was fun and changed my whole life. It is amazing what you will learn in just a few months. If every person in this country had to go through boot it would be amazing at how much better of a place it would be. If you sign, go with the mindset that you are going to enjoy it. I don't know how it is now, but pick a rate before you sign. Don't go in blind and get thrown into the BM, AM or MM rates. When I was in you had to work your ass off doing grunt BS and hope to someday strike out into a dedicated job. They have tests that will show you what specific jobs you can train for. Anything aviation or electronic is good. If you are good at welding you might end up in engineering which can be good unless you are on a ship...lol. The travel is good and of course all that medical stuff is taken care of. Oh, and those shots they give you will only make you feel like shit for a day, you'll get over it. PS--If you do sign up to be a squid and they send you to Great Lakes, check out the giant painted murals on the walls of the center assembly halls...I painted those in 1985 while in service week. BMC

13 years bro......no complaints here, a house, bagged magnum and a body dropped tacoma in the works and still have enough to party on the weekends. Your best bet is to talk to people that are in and get the facts before you decide...

Been in 8 years and still going!! I have the BEST job in the Navy, no I'm not a SEAL, being a Navigator on an LCAC, or as you would know them as, a Hoover Craft. Check out my profile and you will see some pictures of it in the "pictures of me" part.
Anyways, Boot camp isn't that hard as long as you keep off the radar. It's pretty much what you make of it.. If your very outspoken and don't like to do what your told, then it's going to be HELL for you, but if you can do as your told without back talk then it will be a breeze for you.
Like BMC2U said, DO NOT, i say again DO NOT, go into the Navy without a job. Or as they like to call it, undesignated. They try to sell you on it by saying, "Well you can do this for 2 years and see what the Navy has to offer. Then after 2 years you can do any job you want." BULLSHIT!! Those 2 years would be the worst 2 years of your life. If you can think of "specific" questions that you have just "IM" me or send me an email to the address that is in my profile.
And last, don't go Marine because they don't make more money like that other guy said. We all make the same, just ask them who pays them their paycheck...THE NAVY!! They love that when you point that out. It all depends on what you do and where. Unless you don't like to think for yourself, then the Marines are for you..
